Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow

(Snapped on 6/22/12)

First off, let me say that I am truly sorry for being uncharacteristically quiet lately...I've been terrible about not replying to comments on the blog, nor all of the nice emails and texts that I've received from various friends and readers, recently. I don't know exactly what my problem is...I just haven't felt much like talking these days. And as much as I hate to say it, I'm afraid that my silent(ish) streak won't exactly be ending with this post...

(Snapped on 6/22/12)

I will say this though, I went out of town with a friend this weekend...and over the course of our short trip to Nelson County, Va. (the majority of which we spent on and around the beautiful Buffalo River) I was able to let go of everything that's been weighing so heavily on my mind, these days. I thoroughly enjoyed the company of the nice group of people that I was with, but I was the happiest I've been in what feels like forever, each time I slipped away all by myself for a little while - and took the pictures that you see in this post.

I can honestly say that when it was time to go back home again, I really just didn't want to leave...I was so deeply saddened to havta be returning to Clarke County...to be facing reality once again.

There. That's it. I'm all out of words...my brain isn't synapsing properly, it seems. I hate to leave you guys like this, with so little to chew on...but it's really just not happening for me today...I'm sorry. Maybe next time I won't be so tight-lipped...let's hope.

    1. @Mr. Nikon - I have dudely arms, haha! But it's whatever...I loved staging each one of these individual shoots. Second only to abandoned buildings, water is my favorite theme and setting.

  6. You have absolutely no reason to apologise for a lack of written text when you have expressed yourself so brilliantly by posting some of the finest quality photos you have taken. Some of these are so crystal clear I wonder if you're using a new camera. Thank you for sharing more of your always interesting and inspiring artistic work.

    1. @Anonymous - Still using my same, old camera - but I did wipe off the lens a coupla times (for the first time in ages) after tiny, little droplets of water kept getting on it...

Thank YOU - for being so understanding of my recent, funky mood...and for all of the kind things that you said!

  10. Sorry you seem to be having a tough time lately. I completely understand the feeling when your synapses don't seem to be firing. I'm glad you're still at it, though. It makes me happy to see the new images you post. I like this batch, especially the first one and the one with you climbing out of the water. They do seem much more natural than your usual poses. I like that. Still missing you on IG. @aglet

    1. @aglet - YO GIRL! I'm stoked to see that you still come here - THANK You!

Yeah...I'm still very up and down, emotionally...but it does feel like the worst of it may finally be behind me. I'm in the process of making some pretty radical changes in my life, all of which I HOPE will help me begin to move forward, and if I'm REALly lucky - I may just find my "happy" once again...

I don't know what it is about shooting in natural bodies of water exactly, but it a.) never gets old, and b.) generally produces halfway decent pics....

I'm still just as stubborn as ever, about keeping away from Instagram (for several reasons now) - but I have been posting my iPhone snaps more regularly on my other blog, "Little Pretties" (www.littleprettypix.com) as well as on my new Society6 page (http://society6.com/TheBigUgly)...I'm mostly trying to get caught up on posting my favorite older pics., at the moment - but soon I hope to have brand new batches of never-before-seen pics. to write about...

I hope that you're enjoying your summer! Be well!
