If You Go Into The Woods Today...

A couple of nights ago, my two good friends showed me the secret spot where these pictures were taken. After walking up the lane from my one friend's house, ducking into a wooded, private property, and then following an overgrown trail that eventually led us to the rusty well pump and wash tub - the guys left me alone to take my selfpics in peace. The two of them however, continued on along the old path, to see what else they might find - and when they returned, they told me that they had some good news.

Turned out that at top of the hill where the path finally ended - there was a weathered, but solid cabin - and it was unlocked! It was too late in the evening to stage pics. there that night, as the sun was getting low, its light shining ever more dimly through the trees...but I reminded myself that there was always tomorrow...

(Last four pics. snapped on 8/13/12)

...and for as much as I'd enjoyed that first night in the forest (and trust me when I tell you, I did!), the next day was even that much more awesome. Coulda been because I wasn't working (as much) under the gun, time wise - which (along with the fact that I was completely alone on my second trip there), allowed me to lose myself in the setting, the story, and the make-believe person that I became...and although neither set of pictures is particularly great, the two shoots were exactly what I wanted, but more importantly - what I needed, at this point in time...

  1. I think your pictures are lovely. But when I look at that one of you leaping through the woods, I can't help think about you landing, and how much it must hurt to crash down barefoot on all the little twigs. Ouch.

    1. @sin - Yeah, ya' know it's funny...none of that stuff ever really hurts DURing my shoots. I mean, for starters - after 2 1/2 years of running around barefoot in some pretty daggone hideous conditions (over broken glass and rusty metal, across splintery floors, through animal poop, and other yucky mystery muck...you get the idea) - the soles of my feet are about as tough as elephant hide, by now. And also, I think that the adrenaline rush that I get while in the midst of staging my pics. - kind of keeps me from focussing on pain...That being said, I do still sometimes realize (maybe a day or two later) that something does indeed hurt. After these two shoots, the main thing was just how sore the muscles in my body were - from leaping through the woods, and frantically climbing up the wall cabinets, repeatedly. But I also had this awful thorn embedded deep into the bottom of my foot...I only noticed it because I was driving barefoot, and each time I pushed in the clutch - it stung like mad!

Thank You, btw - for linking to my blog from your site! That's awesome!

    1. @Patrick - I was a little disappointed with the blurred images at first, but my 13 y/o son encouraged me to include them in this entry. He thought they looked cool, especially since everything else in these pics., was in focus...and so to him, they did not look like the result of some unfortunate technical malfunction. I gave him the final say in which ones I should publish :)

    1. @Curvaceous Dee - It makes me SO happy when people realize/remember - that each of my selfpics was taken in only 10 seconds...I think folks tend to forget that aspect of my imagery (believe it or not) which can be a bit frustrating at times...especially when pictures like the one that you mentioned - are actually a total bitch to get. Sooooo...for that you deserve a great big giant "THANK YOU" - sweet and wonderful Dee!
